Explain why the scenario below fails to address the protection that patent laws offer inventors.

Situation: Raymond is an inventor and he has copied a product that he knows is patented.

Raymond: "This product is going to sell very well, and I am not concerned about getting caught. The worst that will happen is that I will pay a fine."

  • Punishment should be in  a manner that, it gives an opportunity for the criminal to correct himself.

  • Based on this idea, for this scenario, I feel like using the product of someone which is patented is crime but the punishment given for copying the product of someone is negligible.
  • So anyone can try to copy, just pay fine if they are caught.
  • So this neither satisfies rule number 1 mentioned above, nor satisfies rule number 2.
